Need to work your short game? We’ve found the perfect format.

We’d heard of Pitch & Putt but hadn’t tried it out for ourselves. So on our quick jaunt to Vancouver last week, P&P was at the top of our list. We headed straight to Stanley Park in the heart of the mythical 400-hectare West Coast rainforest, which is one of three options available to the public along with Queen Elizabeth Park and Rupert Park. Spoiler alert: we loved it. It’s a genius idea every city needs to invest in.

Pitch & Putt Stanley Park

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA

Pitch & Putt is a lot like par 3 but requires only 2 or 3 clubs (wedges and putter). In Stanley Park, the P&P has 18 holes ranging from 40 to 100 yards, with sculpted fairways, mature trees and interesting elevation changes. An easy walk from downtown, the course neighbours some of the park’s prime facilities like the tennis courts and Stanley Park Brewery, which offers plenty of provisions, and you’ll run into other golfers with snazzy P&P bags (NEED!). We stopped by one morning (regulars arrive early and play 9 or 18 holes before work) and the next evening (couples on dates, friends roaming around until sunset). It’s busy throughout the day, and that’s so great to see.
